Crabwood Carpentry is a culmination of a journey that began two decades ago in a small town in Virginia and traveled with us to Puerto Rico and through our lives. We’ve drawn from our experiences as home remodelers, hard and soft scape landscapers, furniture designers, carpenters, and general contractors, to inspire and create our projects. We want to design, build, or repair your space so that you have the home that you deserve. We specialize in one-offs, the weird, the unique, and the historic so that your space can tell the unique story of You.

About Us

Steven Mueller, owner and operator, is a carpenter, designer, and builder with over twenty years of experience. After spending high school summers working for landscapers and general contractors, he discovered his joy of carpentry when he and his partner bought what we’ll graciously call a “fixer-upper” that they gutted and remodeled on a shoestring budget. After moving to Puerto Rico in 2013, he started a furniture company on a little island called Vieques. Given that the only other furniture company on the island was closing and the other options were substandard or required substantial shipping costs, Steven saw an opportunity. He built pieces for his storefront, as well as custom pieces built to his clients’ specifications. The birth of his daughter brought Steven back to the DC metro area where he currently works on small-to-medium scale projects such as cabinetry, art installations, built-ins, playhouses, pergolas, and more. He designs and builds custom furniture as well.
